3 Good Songs to Promote Discussions in the Classroom
To commemorate this Thanksgiving weekend. I thought it would be appropriate to send this beautiful music video out to the world called Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother) by New York based artist Taiyo Na from his debut album Love is Growth.
Very Touching!!! This song could spark a discussion about immigration, gratitutde & family relationships.
This song "Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother)" is written and performed by Taiyo Na, a talented artist and teacher who graduated from the Teaching Residents at Teachers College (TR@TC).
There are a few mistakes... but I think it will be alright. This lyrics video doesn't have perfect timing... but it is close enough. I have been working on it for a few hours. I hope people will enjoy!
Sampling Beethoven's Fur Elise, "I Can" by Nas is an inspirational anthem for encouraging focus, determination and individual expression.
In Lauryn Hill's Doo Wop (That Thing), we see a split screen of life in the sixties and today. Discuss the differences with your students.
In the catchy song, Lauryn Hill advises all people to avoid doing "that thing," what society is pressuring you to do. What we embrace and avoid should be generated from ourselves and not from allegiance to outside forces.
